Data Deletion Instructions for Coinly
Coinly — Android app com.norvanestudio.coinly,
published on Google Play by Norvane Studio.
Last updated: August 8, 2026
Coinly keeps your financial records locally on your device. There is no Coinly account, and your transactions, accounts, budgets and goals are never uploaded to or stored on any server. Deleting them is therefore something you do in the App, and it takes effect immediately.
If you use AI capture — the optional feature that reads a receipt, a voice note, a bank statement or a spreadsheet for you — what you submit is sent to the Coinly extraction service to be read. That service keeps no copy of it. What it does retain is a small amount of operational metadata about the request itself, which holds none of your content and is not linked to you. Both are explained under What the extraction service holds below.
How to Delete Your Data
Delete Individual Records
You can delete any individual item directly within the App:
- Open the transaction, account, budget, or goal you want to delete
- Tap the delete option
- Confirm the deletion
Deleted transactions are moved to Settings > Data > Deleted Transactions, where you can permanently delete or restore them.
Delete All App Data
To erase all data stored by Coinly:
- Open the App
- Go to Settings > Data > Delete All Data
- Confirm the action
This permanently removes all transactions, accounts, budgets, goals, and preferences. This action is irreversible.
Your coin balance is deliberately not erased by this action. Coins are bought with real money, so wiping your records does not take away what you paid for.
Remove Google Drive Backups
If you have created backups to Google Drive:
- Open Google Drive
- Navigate to the Coinly backup folder
- Delete the backup files manually
The App does not automatically delete backups from your Google Drive.
Uninstall the App
Uninstalling Coinly from your device removes all locally stored data, including:
- All transactions and financial records
- Receipt attachments and photos
- App settings and preferences
- PIN and biometric configuration
- Any unspent coins, which cannot currently be restored on a new device or a reinstall
If you have unspent coins and intend to reinstall or move to a new phone, be aware that they will not travel with you.
What the Extraction Service Holds
This section applies only if you have used AI capture. If you have not, nothing described here exists for you.
What you submitted is not kept. The extraction service is stateless: the receipt, recording, statement, spreadsheet or text you send is held in memory only for the length of the request, is not written to disk or to any database by the service, and is gone once the reply has been returned. There is no stored copy for you to ask us to delete.
Voice recordings are removed from your device automatically, as soon as they have been read for upload. Only the transcript comes back.
Operational metadata is retained for 30 days. The service records one row per request so it can be monitored and debugged — the time, a randomly generated request identifier, which endpoint was called, the status and outcome, how long it took, the size and type of the upload, and, when something fails, the error type. It holds no amounts, no merchant or payee names, no transcripts, no statement rows, no category names, and no part of the file you uploaded.
These rows carry no name, email address, or device identifier, and there is no account to attach them to. That has a consequence worth stating plainly: because nothing in them identifies you, we cannot locate "your" rows in order to delete them on request. They are deleted automatically after 30 days.
As with any website, the web server in front of the service also writes standard access logs (connecting IP address, timestamp, request path, response status, user agent). These are used to operate and secure the service and are rotated by the server.
What About Crash Reports?
Coinly uses Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymous crash logs. These reports contain no personal or financial data. Crash data is retained according to Google's data retention policies.
